Sharing stories: Connecting families and communities with early literacy research

2020-2021

In collaboration with Glasgow Life, the Sharing Stories project aimed to connect families and communities in Glasgow with research on early language development.  Working closely with family support workers and families in Glasgow’s literacy “hotspots”, we hosted accessible, fun and creative workshops designed to engage families in early language research and promote community involvement.  During these workshops, we co-developed resources with, and for, parents with young children which reflect their interests and needs.   Following the project, we have been sharing good practice and learning across all 32 local authorities in Scotland through the Libraries Early Years Strategy Group.

Below you can see some of the feedback about the project from the families who were involved and a short video about what we did.

This project was funded by Carnegie UK, Wellcome and the Wolfson Foundation, though their Engaging Libraries programme. If you would like further information about this project, please contact Dr Lynne Duncan: l.g.duncan@dundee.ac.uk
